Hugh and Shelly’s 1920’s wedding at The Midland Morecambe

It’s been a while since we featured a wedding on the blog. We have been very busy photographing weddings but just hadn’t shouted about them. We’ve had lots of requests though to start doing that again… So we will.

I first met Hugh 25 years ago when I moved to Kendal and went to the Brewery Arts Centre. Hugh was the Photography Officer. That meant he organised  photography education and programmed the galleries. A job that I took on after a stint as Photographer- in – Residence there and before I went to teach at Lancaster University. Hugh has been involved in photography, as an artist, curator and academic for pretty much all of his working life so, as always, it’s flattering to be asked by someone who knows our craft so well to photograph their wedding.

The Midland in Morecambe is special. It is an authentic Art Deco hotel that has been stylishly and sympathetically refurbished in recent years. It’s often used as a backdrop to TV and film set in the 20’s and 30’s, it’s always popping up on “Poirot”. We were there about the same time last year, but that was when we were keeping a low profile.

We will post more weddings but we are not going to write reams, we would rather let the pictures do the talking.

We will go back to the slide shows but not until we have renewed our music licence.

I really enjoyed looking through this wedding blog post, the Midland has always been a favourite building of ours. Just love the Bride and Father before they walk up the aisle picture. Pure class.
